In regards to LVM + RAID on a "Debian like" system...

Though I have not done an install of Ubuntu (did play with the "live CD"
a bit though), considering it is based off of Debian and using a 2.6
kernel (thus LVM2), it is possible to do (via Debian Sarge and quite a
bit of trial and error)...but I suspect without something like SuSE or
RedHat's Disk Druid during an install, it is not for the faint of heart.
A LVM setup alone would be a nice optimal way down the road to prevent
headaches too.

The inital partitioning schema I used for those who are curious is as
follows:
hda1 /boot 75MB
hda2 swap 256MB
hda3 / 1GB
hda4 LVM (aka "vgroot")
- /dev/vgroot/usr 10GB
- /dev/vgroot/var 10GB
- /dev/vgroot/opt 5GB
- /dev/vgroot/tmp 2GB
- /dev/vgroot/home 5GB

This is similar to the Gentoo Wiki on LVM + RAID setups, which I tried
via Debian first, then moved over to Gentoo later. Works quite
nicely. :-)

If people are up for experimenting with it at the InstallFest, I have
5.04 for i386 and x64 on CDs now in the pile. Should be interesting I
think any which case.
