Actually, I've eliminated this feeling of guilt. I don't care anymore,
I understand my friends do the same, and we're all ok with it. Sure
it's still there a little bit. Actually, before GAIM, I hated IM's
mostly because on a system like Windows where IM's don't have tabs, they
pop up in your face when someone says anything. With GAIM, I just
immediately open a conversation to myself, and if anyone sends me a
message--well they get a response whenever I happen to notice it. And
from there, maybe I'll have small snippets of conversation.
I have no issues with blocking people, or invisibility, or just not
responding. People are ok with that. If they're not, they'll probably
be blocked so I won't know about it. Actually I like it much better
than IRC. With IRC, you're just in this big world of "channels" where
other people can just look you up and talk to you.
