That's been my experience--doesn't fit where I'm at.  Actually, since 
people frequently can't communicate by email where I'm at, I might 
really like IM.  Then I can see that they're at their desk before I walk 
over to get an answer they won't provide in email.  But I don't see them 
ever using it.
