I suspect the DVI part is true, but it ups the price considerably.  
However, I recently bought an iMac.  Considering that the 19" Sony I 
have for my Linux machine cost fully 3/4s of the price of the iMac, I 
figured the Sony would be better.  It isn't.  Running the two side by 
side in a dual monitor set-up, the difference between them is striking. 
  My iMac LCD is bright, crisp, and renders colors better than my Sony.  
Considering that the cost difference, while hard to compute, is a 
there, I would say the digital connection of the iMac is making a 
difference.
