I don't know if this is helpful but, I use a ReadyNAS in RAID5
configuration. It's Linux based, and it also does something they call
"X-raid". So I can replace the drives with larger drives, and it will
automatically resize the RAID.

I'm pretty sure that feature is only from Infrant. But I don't know how
much actual work they put into making it. Just thought I'd toss that out
there.
