I wasn't so fortunate.  Upgrading from FC3 to FC4 was fraught with all kinds
of difficulties which eventually left me with a Gnome-less system.  Even after
a re-install of the OS from the DVD didn't work.  Evaentually I obtained a
spare hard drive and installed FC5 on it to rescue the data on the FC3->FC4
"upgrade."
