How it works:

RicochetR provides high-speed, wire-free Internet access over
its unique patented Micro Cellular Data Network. Ricochet
operates from an easy-to-use external modem or internal PC card
modem. Ricochet modems send data via radio signals to radio
receivers mounted on utility poles. The receivers relay the
radio signals to special, powerful antennas wired to the internet.
Ricochet is the fastest wireless broadband network in the world
today, with typical rates over 176 kbps.

Speed: Typical speeds of 176 Kbps, with bursts to 400 kbps.

Access: Unlimited Internet access within the coverage area.

Cost: $99.95 modem purchase, $44.95 per month Standard Service
charge.

Mike's comments about the financial side of things it correct.
They basically expanded a little too fast, too soon before it
could catch on. As for the Sprint 3G, I have heard rumors about
the Ricochet idea being parallel and similar in nature.
