[clue-tech] CD recovery

I have a CD full of pictures that a user brought into my office this 
morning.  She says the pictures on there are important, but this is her 
only copy :(  The CD has no scratches on it and is 2 years old - she's 
saying it never worked right from when it got burned the first time.  So 
I mounted it and tried to view the files.  Several directories show up, 
and inside each directory it lists all the files.  The problem comes in 
when I try to copy them over to my home directory.  It reads about half 
the CD fine, but the second half errors out like so:

cp: reading `Peru March 2004/P1011449.JPG': Input/output error
cp: reading `Peru March 2004/P1011451.JPG': Input/output error
cp: reading `Peru March 2004/P1011452.JPG': Input/output error

Is there a utility available that I can try to recover these files with? 
My fear is that the CD is just crap and unreadable, but my hope is that 
this is a file system error something that I can recover from.
