Echostar has an immediate opening for a Linux Administrator I at the
Inverness facility where I work. We support the Development
Engineering users who develop settop box code for Dish Network and
other customers. Currently we maintain approximately 40 Linux servers
and 150-200 Linux desktops and laptops. Another team in our
administrative group maintains a small number of Windows servers and
200-300 Windows PCs and laptops. We also interact with similar
Development Engineering and Administrative groups at other Echostar US
and international sites.

Requirements.

* 4 or more years working with Linux
* Preference for Red Hat (or CentOS) Linux experience
* Degree preferred but not an absolute requirement
* Proficiency in as many as possible of the following disciplines

** Linux/unix commands
** Bash, Perl, PHP coding
** MySQL
** LDAP and interoperability with Active Directory
** BIND/DNS
** DHCP
** NFS
** iptables
** Networking and Cisco switches
** rpm,  yum, kickstart
** Apache and web programming
** Wiki software
** Symantec Backup Exec and/or Net Backup
** Rational Clearcase
** Java/Tomcat
** San setup and configuration
** Virtual systems (Vmware and XEN)
** PC and Server installation and maintenance (PC tech type work required)

In addition

** ability to work well with customers and other administrators
** ability to communicate well
** ability to cope with constantly changing priorities and deadlines
** ability to learn rapidly and work with minimal supervision
** ability to respond in a rational manner to crisis situations
** rotating on call duties (nights and weekends included) are required
** ability to pass a drug test
** US citizen
