[clue-tech] Linux server, backups...

Nate reminded me of an important question in another thread I started. Thank you, Nate!

I have two external hard drives on my Linux server. What is the easiest way to backup one drive onto another. Nate was discussing reimaging, I don't know if that really applies here, since I'm not intersted in the applications. The drive I want backed up contains only user files (music, text, spreadsheets, etc.)

I was trying "cp -R /*", but that didn't feel right. rsync seemed overkill, but it's been ages since I used that.

The next step would be to make a cron job of deleting the old and sync'ing a new backup. I think I've run out of room for two backups at once.

I think I have room on a third drive to add some incremental backups daily for quicker changes.

Adrian
