OK, probably nobody cares, but I did notice this in one of the annoucements:

>The shell has been changed to be more rigorous about parsing commands inside
>command substitutions, fixing one piece of POSIX non-compliance.

Probably whoever had the problem with illogical variable substitution has
already moved on, but perhaps the above fix explains *why* that was so
illogical - it was nearly a bug.
