What do you have as your DNS servers?  That is, what IP addresses
show up in /etc/resolv.conf?

I've experienced the same sort of thing, but I had a mix of DNS servers,
so I'm not sure what the real problem is.  I suspect that Qwest's DNS
servers have periodic problems, but I haven't been able to rule out something
funky in a version or two of FireFox.
