[clue-tech] SATA vs. "IDE"?

My server hard drive just crashed and is making banging sounds.  I want to pick up a new one today.  Is Best Buy typically the best place to get a inexpensive drive?  I'm looking online and I see many SATA drives.  Is it true that I can't plug a SATA drive into my old "IDE" motherboard (the tape connectors).  Do I just look for "IDE" drives?  There doesn't seem to be much selection.
