If its a generic scanning problem for analog signals then a VCR tuned to
channel 3 or 4 (and running before the scan starts) should work.  You'll
just pick up a single channel on the scan.  That should help with
debugging the problems with analog scanning in general.

If its a digital signal scanning problem then the VCR won't work.  VCRs
are all analog signals (well, at least AFAIK).
