Running from pclos, /dev/sd[a..f] are generated, but the second device
is sdb. I'm not sure why devices sdc..sdf exist anyway.

pclos kernel is 2.6.33.7  using grub

Pinguy (ubuntu)  kernel is 2.6.35-23  using grub2

So, somewhere along the line they changed the device detection order again.
