A third option is to create a new partition and mount it as /tmp
A fourth option is to make /tmp a symbolic link to a directory on /home
   mkdir /home/tmp; mv /tmp/ /tmp.orig; ln -s /home/tmp /tmp

Be sure that you set the sticky bit on the new /tmp.
