I don't think that's viable. As far as I know, it's not possible to boot the  
same instance of Windows from the metal and virtual hardware,  
interchangeably.

I thought it was Linux installed side-by-side with the pre-existing
Windows7.  Booting into Linux.  Accessing the Windows 7 partition via
Virtualbox.
