I've been looking for a class N router that I could install Tomato on. I think I finally found it. Asus is selling the RT-N16, which most people seem to love after flashing the firmware. The CPU is much faster than the one in the Linksys WRT and it has a lot more memory. It has USB ports, so you can use it as a print server for a USB printer. A variant of Tomato, called TomatoUSB, has been developed for it.

I should find it odd that wireless routers generally have lousy firmware, but "just good enough" seems to be the rule. Too bad they don't just install OpenWRT or Tomato instead. But that would probably cannibalize sales of their more expensive routers.
