I tried shutting off something like that but the problem persisted so I just
cured it by installing Mandrake 8.2 over the top of RedHat.
But don't worry about it, I'm done "evaluating" Red Hat 7.3. I won't be
asking any more questions about it.

Maybe I didn't have the acronym right, I think it's RHNSD, but it stands
for Red Hat (something else go here I think) Network Dameon. It's like
windows update that happens without you asking basically. If I'm wrong
here, somebody correct me - but once I install Red Hat ever since 7.0 I
think, I always have to type "setup" as root, go into the "System
Services" and stop that service from running. Try that and let me know
if that stops your kppp connect attempts.

Joe Linux wrote:

What is "rhnd"? What does that stand for and what does it do? Where
and how would you turn it off?

Mike Staver wrote:

I'm not sure, but I turned off rhnd so that it wouldn't run at start up
anymore. Have you done that?

Joe Linux wrote:

RedHat 7.3 has gone totally weird. Any time I click on anything in the
RedHat Control Panel, it launches 'kppp." For example when I click on
the User Manager, it launches "kppp." The same is true for everything
else in the control panel. Is this due to the fact that I haven't
registered the installation with RedHat?
