<DIV><FONT size=2>T</FONT>hanks for the help Adam, Todd, Timothy &
Jef. With your comments/support, I'm well on my way to getting things set
up. Here's where we are...</DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV>I verified SSH with the SSHD daemon was running on both machines the
'headed' and 'headless' machines and things worked 'flawlessly' in communicating
between machines and a simple application from the 'headless'
machine showed up on the 'headed' machine. I haven't tried a full-fledged
X session as yet. </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV>Didn't play with vncserver as I took the first suggestion from Adam and ran
with it ... I'll continue to experiment.</DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV>My more global intent with this exercise was to 'blackroom' one of the
machines [putting it in a closet or down in the basement] and get rid
of one of the display monitors needed. Now all that's left is to run
power and the ethernet to the 'blackroom' machine. </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV>You've made the Mrs. happy! Can't understand why she was
upset about my toys with all the cabling mess being 5 feet from the
front door to the house, I was good at closing the glass door to help hide
the mess from our guests :)</DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV>Now if I can hide or better yet - get rid of the #3 Windoze machine....You
guys have to train the trainer first. She won't touch a Linux machine
YET.</DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV>Thanks & regards,</DIV>

<DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>I'm trying to open an X-window on one machine from
another - the machines are networked together via a
router. What I am trying to do is to only have to use one
display monitor to be able to access both machines without using something
like an A/B switch. Wading thru the X-window documentation but I'm
getting lost in detail!</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT size=2>Call the two machines Tom (server RH 7.3) & Dick

<DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>1) I think I need to disable the automatic startup on Dick
(workstation) to avoid going directly into KDE (maintaining the option of
opening manually).</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT size=2>2) I want to establish a KDE session on Tom (server)
initiated from Dick (workstation).</FONT></DIV>
