wireless router SMC 7004VWBR (recently on sale with a rebate at
MicroCenter - after I bought of course). I use it to share files and
internet between Win 98 and RedHat 8.0. The Windows machine is hardwired
to the router and my Linux laptop uses an SMC wireless PCMCIA network card
(don't know the model) to communicate to the router and "see" the windows
machine.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>On boot-up, RedHat 8.0 initially complains
about the SMC PCMCIA card as unsupported but later in the boot
process resolves to a generic ws_lan driver AND WORKS!</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I'm happy and the SMC PCMCIA can also be
plugged into a Windows laptop. Approximate street price >$125

Wireless access point for my home network so I can become a little more free
with a couple laptops. My wife's laptop, well soon to be laptop that
is, will run windows but my laptop dual boots xp and RH 7.3. What I am
wondering is do any of you have wireless set up with Linux and Windows
clients? Also, is there a brand that is more friendly to Linux than
others? And one more, I saw a new WAP at Microcenter that was
802.11g. Does anyone know much about this new standard? It was
almost the same price as 802.11b but runs at 50 something
kbps. </FONT></DIV>
