there is a product called drobo <a href="http://www.drobo.com/">http://www.drobo.com/</a> available as a usb device or with a network box of it's own. I think it's attractive unit but maybe a bit expensive. <br><br>

Did someone tell me about a NAS device that accepts 1 to 4 drives, hot adds drives, and automatically transitions between non-RAID and RAID based on how many drives are present? I'd swear I had heard about such a device, but the guy I though told me about it, didn't. Maybe someone here?<br>

two drives = mirror (RAID1)<br>
three drives = RAID5 (striped w/parity)<br>
four drives = RAID10 (mirrored stripe-set or striped mirror-set?)<br>
