The easiest way to use amd is via the /net file system. When you attempt to access /net/system.name/some/path the daemon will mount the exported file system. Then when it is idle for long enough it'll unmount it.
Ok, I will consider that too. Can amd also trigger something like sending an email when things get unmounted?
The easiest way is to avoid the problem by using amd to manage the mounts.
I was reading about major and minor timeouts in the nfs(5) man
page. I'm looking for a way to force an unmount of an nfs
filesystem when that nfs server isn't responding.

Any ideas?
