I've experienced situations where the driver was there, but the firmware wasn't Depending on how the driver was written I've received an interface but was not able to modify it. <br>True, the interface is there, but it is obviously borked (see MAC address and txqueuelen) No amount of abstraction with any of that neo-letmeconfigurethatforyou-garbage will fix it.<br>
<br>Perhaps we can see a `uname -r` and a `dmesg` if you are positive that the driver is in a working state and you have the firmware? Otherwise I am sure that with the ralink-firmware and wireless-tools packages it works.<br>

</div>That seems unlikely to me, since he has an interface. My guess is that it isn't configured to do<br>
the right thing. That gets done through a network manager app, wicd, wpa-supplicant, etc. But it<br>
has to be installed and run.<br>
