I've registered with GoDaddy. I go to their site once every 2-5yrs (whatever my expiration is).
There's lots of advertising in the registration process but after that I never hear from them. But
I don't use any of their other services.

Registrar and DNS provider are two different services. I use zoneedit.com for DNS (first 2 zones
are free currently). They'll let you do what you want but I don't know if you'd say they have good
tools. I have small domains that don't change much. They've given me more than my money's worth.
It looks like zoneedit resells Domain.com--they aren't their own registrar.
I don't remember what I paid for registration but Dyn looks like it's $15/yr. That's in the
ballpark so I'll look at them next time.
