In my somewhat limited experience, if it starts complaining because X is 
missing, or Y is missing, or invalid; you can usually just put X or Y back where 
you found it.   Granted, it won't always fix the problem, but no registry means 
no keys,  and not allot of other hidden BS to deal with.  A file is a file, and 
a directory is a directory.   Find out what a good one looks like and mimic it 
if you can and you're halfway there.
