I don't know what that would mean.  JRE is Java run-time environment.  JDK is Java developer's kit. 
  The former runs Java apps, the latter runs Java apps, compiles Java code, and links with the 
official Java libraries.  To over simplify, the JRE is like a binary package and the JDK is like its 
-dev package.

So if what you heard occurs you lose nothing except some disk space.
