[clue] suggestions on linux repair CD's? [talk]

you are making this sound like an electrical problem...
parted magic on USB...
sata/ide to USB connector and a spare drive just to show off some primitave 
hardware.
an external drive that looks like little red riding hood herself would approve 
of and the hammer and axe if there are any questions.
the DL for pmagic is 209 megs.. runs off CD-ROM also, has the basic stuff... 
if you need more then use the sata/ide contraption...
bring some napkins for the sweat on your brow if they turn off the air 
conditioner...
