[clue] networking Q

They are.   As near as I can tell.   I'll go back and verify anyway, if
only because I sure as @#$#$ don't have any ideas.     Whatever it is, it's
happening somewhere inbetween run level 2 and 3.   (Probably counts as
stating the obvious).
