I've made good use of media-wiki with the semantic mediawiki plugin and a
bit of custom wiki work. and an "editpage" script.

But "real" admins roll there eyes and start product selection and
development projects that take six months but never deliver anything.

If I was starting this over again, which I may be doing soon, I'll do
ansible inventory file => wiki page generation => nagios monitoring config
generation. All backed into github. But it does end up being kind of
idiosyncratic. ane new team members roll their eyes and tell me they can
replace it with something real in 6 months.
