I currently work for a VAR in AZ that sells them, so some bias might come
into play. (Just moved back to AZ from Denver, which is why I am still on
clue's mailing list). Also, I am an engineer, not a salesman, and about
three weeks into this gig so I don't have all the answers but I will tell
you what I know so far.
The current offerings from any other provider are predominantly single
radio APs, sometimes dual radios. There's no expansion options, and if you
need to upgrade from 802.11n to ac you have to buy all new APs.
Xirrus are modular, with APs and arrays having from two to 16 programmable
radios. They can be managed through Xirrus' cloud based solution or
through a local dedicated solution. They can do 802.11a/b/g/n/ac at both
2.4GHz and 5GHz. Because they are modular, when wave 2 and 3 reach a better
price point, they can be upgraded without having to buy all new hardware,
just swap out the radios.
I am currently certifying on the Xirrus system and I have been blown away
by how much they offer.
Check out the use cases and videos if/when you have time. I think they can
speak for themselves.
