On second thought, maybe there is no MS tax. At least not directly. Upgrades from Win 7 or 8 are free. It looks like their plan is to make money off mining people's shopping and browsing habits. Outgoogle Google.

At $99 for the hardware, I doubt there's actually any Windows tax on that.
