Debian stable supports your card with the iwlwifi driver in the 3.16 kernel. So likely anything 
newer than stable does as well.

The kernel page for your driver says you need 4.1 or later. So if the stable kernel doesn't work try 
testing or unstable (currently 4.3+).

You didn't say anything about installing the firmware and since you have an error about that in 
dmesg that would be my guess. Make sure you've installed the firmware-iwlwifi package (from non-free).
