If you want to experiment and create<br>situations where things are unstable, perhaps there should be<br>'beta.cluedenver.org' and then a functional main site.<br><br>I'd be happy to offer some advice, but it seems like there are already<br>far too many cooks in this particular kitchen. It's been said already,<br>creating a CMS driven website isn't rocket science. It seems we're over<br>thinking this -- a lot.<br><br>Not everything needs a steering committee. I'm not sure if CLUE has<br>bylaws or any particular structure, but perhaps there should be a<br>'website admin' position within the CLUE to achieve the aforementioned<br>goal.<br><br>Jeff<br>_______________________________________________<br><br>The primary purpose of the website is information, not to be a playground, which means it needs to be stable. Shawn did an upgrade to Drupal today, which might help. Bluehost is having problems this week so the site is still slow and hard to test but it has not crashed.<br><br>I selected Drupal to make it easy for people to edit the site. The old site is a combination of html and php, which many people in the group don't know. Drupal also lets us assign different levels of access to people who want to help with the site. That does not mean that everyone in CLUE will have editor privileges, let alone administrator access.<br><br>A sandbox site can be set up to allow testing of new features. I think we will do so after we are done making this site work properly.<br><br>When we voted this spring, I agreed to take over as webmin for this year. The Drupal committee is a working committee to move everything over to Drupal and get things working. I had NO idea until right now that Dennis Perkins was the Web Admin. If he told me this.... I must have been out to lunch. ( no surprise there ) When I went to the Website meetings , I thought that the group was based on pizzacracy ( see Neil Smith ) .... duh So I thought I was a cog in a project without a driver...... and Dennis P. apparently thinks he is the driver. If I had known this, I would have never gotten involved. This has nothing to do with Dennis... it is that I despise dictatorial groups. It does matter how benign the dictator is ....... nice dictators are nicer than mean dictators .... still I would not choose such a structure for my FUN projects.
