Here, here. BLUG is a great example of how a LUG should operate. Little formalities or drama, just a simple e-mail list and well attended monthly meetings to discuss Linux and FOSS.<div><br></div><div>If someone needs an outlet to expend energy and learn along the way he/she should look for an open source project that is in need of contributors. Time there will be much better spent for all involved.<br>

</div>Is it possible that things just plain got conflated? CLUE was just a<br>
bunch of people who loved to use Linux sharing information and<br>
thoughts via an email list. There was a monthly meeting for local<br>
members to get together and share their knowledge.<br>

Somewhere along the way, the scope was expanded to include officers<br>
and formal rules and parliamentary procedures and the such. CLUE was<br>
forcibly dragged from being an informal bunch to a formal group. There<br>
was no way that anything but drama could result.<br>
<br>
And now it appears that people are taking things far too seriously.<br>
Everything is out of perspective. The molehill of a fun little group<br>
has been turned into a mountain of internal politics.<br>
<br>
This place was a lot more fun when there was no real structure. Can't<br>
we aim to get it back to that point?<br>
