Even with PAE you are limited to how much RAM a single application can use. The kernel has to map different parts of RAM and I have run into problems with oomkiller destroying systems with PAE even when not much RAM (relative to what is installed) was being used because the system ran out of lowmem. PAE with a ton of RAM can be a nightmare.<div>
