Is this a viable offer? Would the CLUEbies be interested?

Jeff:

LinuxFund.org is offering you a unique and easy way for your LUG in
Denver (PS- Congrats for winning the Stanley Cup) to make some quick
cash and help support open source: sell our credit card and get cash. As
a fellow Linux User Group president, David Mandel, the illustrious head
of the local LUG based in Portland, Oregon and Technical Director of the
LinuxFund.org, knows all about the personal expenses required to fully
operate a successful group. It is because of his pain and yours that we
at the LinuxFund.org thought about setting up bake sales to help LUGs,
but frankly "Denver Geeks in the Kitchen" would be too much for even us
to handle. Instead we've come up with a simple solution: sell our credit
card for cash.

Cash you say? The LinuxFund.org does its part to assist the Linux
community by giving grants to fund open source projects. We do this by
raising money through the official LinuxFund.org Mastercard (it even has
Tux on it!). A portion of each purchase that is made with the card goes
to us and we in turn fund various projects that are submitted to us.

Now, you're still asking, where's the money right? Well here it is: for
every approved new cardholder that is recruited from your LUG, you get
$30. Let's do the math, shall we? Assume that you get the 30 of your
members to sign up for the card and 15 of them are credit worthy. You
will then receive $450. This will save you the heartache of continuously
forking over your hard earned cash. Your LUG will receive a cheque every
quarter as well as bi-weekly updates concerning the application rates of
your group.

All you need to do now is follow these simple steps:
(1) Visit our website (linuxfund.org) and review the contract.
(2) Fill out the forms on the site.
(3) Embed our two-line, unobtrusive message at the bottom of you LUG
mailing list e-mails (yes, it's really that easy).
(4) Sit back, relax, wait for the cheques to arrive and start spending.

We'd like to thank your LUG for being a crucial part of the Linux
community and we hope that you'll jump at this truly unique opportunity
to continue to support open source. If you need more information, please
do not hesitate to call me at 503-892-3333, or e-mail me, Candace, at
candace at linuxfund.org.

Also, if you would like someone to show up at a meeting, we may be able
to arrange it. Please call us with inquiries.

Sincerely,
Candace Ramcharan
