Good question. From our last admin meeting it sounded like
we were going to be working more as a single entity from now
on. Doug volunteered to be sponsor coordinator for both groups.
While I'd be willing to come up to the North meeting this month
(and probably next) I'm not willing to commit to making every
North meeting. So, how would you like to coordinate this?

One of the things I was planning to do is print pin-on name badges
for the members. I've been debating how to manage these. I'd like
to hand them out (or have them sitting out on the door prize table)
for people to pick up when they come in. Giving them a door
prize ticket as they pick up their badge. The biggest problem with
this is going to be getting everyone to remember to turn their
badge back in at the end of the meeting. I didn't mind incurring
the expense of some badges initially, but if we need to continue
reissuing them, the cost could become significant. The sticky backed
badges are cheaper.

I had planned to offer a temporary membership for $3 at the door
which would be good for the night of the meeting and allow
people to participate in the door prize drawing without paying for
an annual membership. But the more I've thought about this,
especially in light of the sign up response we got on Tuesday, the
more I'm inclined not to.

And how to renew a membership. I'm inclined to keep this simple
as well and charge a flat $20 due every October meeting. I'm also
not inclined to prorate the membership. Maybe in April we could
drop the membership cost to half price.

I suspect some folks are going to complain about this, either
expecting a membership to be good for a full year from the
time they joined or expect a prorate reduction if it's less than
a year. But since we're only asking $20, I'd rather keep it
simple. If we were to cover the cost of the room ourselves,
we'd either need to charge something like $50 bucks for a
membership or $4/$5 at the door.

Anyway, back to the point for your question. I'd be happy to show
up on Thursday night to pitch for membership, but we probably
need to discuss how you or someone else at the North group will
coordinate membership collections with Jeff and I. I've started a
notebook dedicated to for membership sign up. I'm getting a full
name (printed) and a preferred email address for the CLUE alias.
I'm dating the top of each page so that I know when folks signed
up. I plan to enter these into a file or table soon.

Let me know if you have any problems, questions or suggestions
with the above.

Lynn
