IBM SPONSORS APPLICATION DEVELOPER CONTEST TO BRING
NEW APPLICATIONS TO POWERPC LINUX
Loveland, Colorado -- 6 October 2004 -- Terra Soft Solutions(R), Inc.,
the
leading developer of integrated PowerPC Linux solutions is pleased to
promote
IBM's "Linux on POWER Open Source Developer Contest", designed to move
open
source applications to Linux running on the PowerPC architecture.
IBM's desire is to further expand the foundation of PowerPC Linux
applications. As more developers are becoming familiar with working on
64-bit
PowerPC Linux, the foundation of supported applications has grown
tremendously which in turn offers a more diverse environment from which
to
learn, work, and play.
"I am very pleased with the dedication IBM has demonstrated toward
PowerPC
Linux, " states Kai Staats, CEO Terra Soft Solutions, "We are honored
to be a
part of this contest ... eager to deliver 100 G5s with Y-HPC
pre-installed to
the [Tier 2] winners."
Winners of this contest will receive prizes as follows:
The Tier 1 winner will receive a Toyota Prius.
100 Tier 2 winners will receive a free Apple dual G5 Power Mac
through Terra Soft with Y-HPC pre-installed.
100 Tier 3 winners will receive cash prices.
Registration for the contest must be completed by October 31st, 2004.
See
http://www.linuxonpower.com/ for registration, contest rules, and
regulations. Ported applications must be submitted on or before December
10th. The winners will receive notification on or about December 24th,
2004.
For developers who do not currently have access to a POWER or PowerPC
development box, free ppc64 shells are available at
www.egr.up.edu/powerlinux.
Terra Soft will direct contest updates and announcement of winners to
the
