Collins said that BLUG has a simple site and thought it might be Ruby-based.
He said he would investigate.
Dan offered to host the CLUE website for us. He has the capacity to handle the
site.
We talked about Drupal 6 and Drupal 7. Drupal 7 is still slower than 6 but we
would need to manually backport the pages to it. I told Dan that I would send
him the Drupal backup. I've done that tonight and any of you can load it on
your boxes if you want.
We can put a link on CLUE's webpage to take people to the Drupal site. When
we are satisfied that it won't fall over, we can make it our website unless
people don't like it.
We talked about the email issue. Many hosting sites don't provide email or
limit it severely. Dan's offer includes email and postman capability.
Why Drupal? I thought a CMS like Drupal or Joomla would make it easier for
others to help maintain the website without knowing how to use html or PHP. I
chose Drupal because I read that Joomla had a few security issues at the time.
The learning curve is supposed to be steeper than Joomla but I didn't find it
very steep.
