This is retyped (with some spelling corrections) from a
Press Release that I attended at the LinuxWorld Expo in
NYC, NY today. Please direct any to the LPI folks, though
I can answer a few of them from talking with the LPI folks
at the show.

<press-release>

Brampton, Ontario, Canada
Linux Professional Institute (LPI), the leading source of
skills certification for the Linux operating system,
announced today the immediate worldwide availability of a
special upgrade program aimed at holders of SAIR Linux
certifications.

Effective immediately, all current holders of SAIR LCA
certifications will be granted LPI Level 1 certification
(LPIC1) upon successful completion of the LPI Level 2
certification (LPIC2) exams. This offers a cost savings
of $200 or more, as exam-takers must normally complete
the LPIC1 exams before being eligible for LPIC2 certification.

SAIR LCA holders who do not wish to attain LPIC2 status can
reach LPIC1 certification by passing either the LPI exam 101
or 102. Normally both exams must be passed in order to attain
LPIC1.

"This upgrade program is yet another example of LPI's continued
commitment to address the needs of the Linux world," said LPI
President Chuck Mead. "We're proud to be able to make this
upgrade available, and we look forward to welcoming SAIR
certificate holders into the LPI community."

The SAIR upgrade programs will be available until December 31,
2002. Proof of LCA certification (a notarized copy of the
certificate) must be mailed to LPI in order to qualify for the
upgrade offer.

For more information on the SAIR upgrade program, please email
upgrades at lpi.org.
