        hello,

since we've been busy comparing distributions lately, i thought
i'd ask
a related question. seems like we may have covered this before, but i'm
looking for a fairly lightwieght distribution with support for a dialup
connection, web browser, and staroffice. the target hardware would be
something like a P133-166 with 32-64 Mb ram, 1.2 Gb drive.
like matthew, i've been trying to get old computers acquired and
configured for friends' casual home use. unfortunately, most of this
effort has involved microsoft products. for the most part, these folks
don't really have any preconceived notions about how a computer should
behave, they'd just like to check their yahoo mail at night, maybe
wordproccess a couple christmas letters, etc.
http://ldl.sourceforge.net seems like a good place to start
looking,
but i haven't found anything there yet. thoughts? advice?

also, it's been [way too] convenient to install one of these
free
internet access packages under windows. stuff like netzero and altavista
work really well for these sorts of low-key users. does anyone know
anything about a linux client for these services?

not finding mention of these issues in the archives, sorry if
i've
overlooked something.

        craig
