Make sure you have compiled the aic7xxx driver, either as a module (preferred)
or linked into your kernel.  You can see if you have compiled it as a
modules by looking in /lib/modules/2.2.17/scsi, or check your 
/usr/src/linux/.config file.  You CD should show up as /dev/scd0, which 
you can link to /dev/cdrom2 or whatever.
