[CLUE-Talk] Big Cajones

grant grant at amadensor.com

Well, I did it. I quit my job in this nasty job market because of the
fact that they are a MS partner. Now, I am not stupid, I had another job
lined up, but, still, wish me luck. My non-compete states that I may not
work for another consulting or contracting company at a client site
within one year after leaving them, but I am going as a perm to a place
where I was back in October. Wish me luck they they don't make lawyers
argue this one out. Even though I am completely OK on the agreement, they
may want to make things hard for me since I am leaving, and they perceived
me as one of their more valuable employees.

I think there should be options. 1) for the "Mom Test" and 2) for the
power users. Me as a "power User" I like all te configuration options. I
like have more control over my desktop than I do under winblows.

Grant,
I wouldn't worry to much.
1) Just don't let your former employer know where you went.
2) Search Slashdot - I read MANY articles from there on "breaking"
non-competes.
3) Non-Competes are challangeable.

Be there myself before. Basically the former employer can blow it out
their rear end. When I was in the Air Force they tried to get us to sign
Non-Competes. I told them to "eat me" I refused to sign. They threatend
to "kick me out" and called their bluff. Two years later I got my
honorable discharge when my time was up - I got out! No repercussions
ever came my way!

Regards,
