There is a couple of web sites dedicated to not using PayPal.

Both sites list some common complaints about PayPal as well as some
alternatives (and even some "horror stories"). The first site
(www.paypalwarning.com) seems to have more information about some of the
legal problems/issues (including info on the class action suit against
PayPal) than the second site.
