There used to be a bank in Boulder that did this. Used to see them in ads
for Weatherby rifles all the time. They had an affiliation. Or, maybe it
was ads for the bank, but the "splash" on the ad was essentially, "own a
Weatherby for nothing". It was a promotion for certificates of deposit.
I'm pretty sure the rifle was in lieu of all or most of the interest on
the account.

Not sure why doing so would be "over the line". What line would that be?
