An 'Installfest' is a social gathering where folks interested in Linux share
knowledge about Linux installation and configuration. Often, those new to or
interested in Linux will bring their computers for installation assistance.
Others have already installed Linux and wish to try out new configurations or
software. Typically, the CLUE installfests last for most of a weekend day.
The next Installfest will include Linux on the DEC Alpha, as well as the
usual horde of x86 (i.e., Intel / Athlon). We expect to have people
available to help install Linux on machines using various bios and boot
loader combinations. If you have an Alpha and it isn't running Linux, bring
it!
I will have copies of the following distributions.
Red Hat 7.1
Slackware 8.0
Mandrake 8.1
Many others will bring copies of other distributions as well. My personal
goal (in addition to helping everyone else) is to get our two DEC Alpha boxes
up-and-running for the CLUE web servers!
Hope to see you there!
