I don't think that is possible. IBM have been able to run several concurrent OSes for many, many years.

It is the underlying VM OS that allows this to happen. It is the combination of Linux + VMWare (or Lozedows + VMWare) gives you that capability. The VM virtualizes all the hardware for the guest OSes to use.

IBM used a combination of both hardware and software to make VM happen. It is also a lot easier to do the VM thing with IBM mainframe processors than with Intel processors. They were designed to do just that. Intel processors were originally designed as microprocessors (micro-controllers) and did not have all the necessary hardware features to support VM type stuff.

The large number of vendors and the variety of exotic hardware cards makes it a lot more difficult to achieve. Does a mainframe have a sound card? Dunno - never heard one.

Hi,=20

I am a super-newbie and would like to come to the installfest in =
February. I've been unable to install either Redhat or Suse as a =
dual-boot on my box. Can someone tell me how to get to Batky-Howell and =
where to go once I get there. What time does it start? What should I =
do (besides backup an defrag) to my computer before I get there?

Also, I need help choosing an ISDN modem that will work with both =
Windows and Linux. I've tried researching it but don't understand the =
terminology well enough to make an intelligent decision.

Thanx in advance for your help. Bill.
