I think the fact that Oracle their "whole business" on Linux should be
compelling enough for your client:

Also, I did a lot of research for my ITEC presentation last week - "Tux in a
Suit - Linux Means Business". Based on published reports of companies that
switched to Linux, they cite four general reasons. For each, I discussed a
business case in the presentation. These cases should provide even more
evidence that Linux is gaining dominance in all areas of business uses.
Here's a quick summary of the 4 reasons:
1. TCO is lower. This is totally dependant on the business in question. The
best way to determine if Linux is cheaper for your business is to run a pilot
program.
2. Linux quality is higher. This is de facto for most of us, but most
businesses are conservative. They take a 'wait and see' attitude.
3. Linux platform support. Linux runs on everything from PDAs to mainframes.
4. Linux flexible. Linux can be molded into almost anything. This appeals
to certain types of business.
