Armed man turns out to be frustrated computer user

BOULDER - Police defused an armed conflict between a man and his
computer Wednesday. 

More than a score of officers surrounded an apartment complex near 30th
Street and Iris Avenue after a maintenance worker reported seeing a man
waving a gun in a ground floor apartment. 

But the pellet gun - as well as expletives - were aimed at a balky
computer, said deputy police chief David Hayes. 

Hayes declined to release the man's name because he was not arrested or
charged with a crime. 

However, the man, 32, voluntarily surrendered the pellet gun, along with
a firearm in the apartment. 

Police were in the process of evacuating the area when the man came
wandering outside, apparently unaware of the stir he had caused. 

"He just came out. He was very cooperative - embarrassed," Hayes said.
